Updated May 27, 2021

Raising Nebraska has reopened to the public. The health and safety of our visitors, volunteers, staff, and neighbors is our top priority.

Raising Nebraska has made a number of temporary changes to help slow the spread of COVID-19. These changes include the following:

Changing sign-in procedures. All visitors will be asked to sign in (first name only required) along with a phone number. The addition of a required phone number is a new change. This information will be used only in the case of contact tracing. Your phone number will not be shared with anyone other than the Central District Health Department and only if the Health Department requests it.

Masks/Facial Coverings are Recommended.

Raising Nebraska follows all applicable Directed Health Measures.

If you are uncomfortable with our staff wearing a mask, you can ask them to wear a face shield.

Changes to Seating. Raising Nebraska has removed more than half of the seating in the Grain Bin Theater to comply with social distancing. We have also added signage to our permanent seating to remind people to maintain social distancing.

As with any activity during this time, there is a certain assumption of risk when visiting places like Raising Nebraska. To read the full assumption of risk statement from the University of Nebraska, please visit https://covid19.unl.edu/assumption-risk-statement

Cleaning and Disinfecting. Staff at Raising Nebraska take the cleaning and disinfecting of our space seriously. During your visit, you may see staff cleaning and disinfecting. Staff are also undertaking deep cleaning projects, above and beyond what is required by the local health district and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. If you have questions about the specific cleaning products and methods, please ask the staff.

We understand that not everyone is comfortable being “out and about” during this time. Our “360 Tour” allows for a taste of the Raising Nebraska experience. Please follow us on social media (Facebook and Twitter) for information about learning opportunities that you can enjoy from home. Check out our “Teacher Resources” tab at the top of this website for additional materials we have available for those schooling from home.

We know that this has been a difficult time for everyone, in different ways. Please visit https://disaster.unl.edu/coronavirus-covid-19-resources to find resources – many of which are free – that might be of help to you or those you care about.

We look forward to welcoming you, your family, and those who love to learn about food and the families who grow it. With questions or for more information please contact Raising Nebraska at 308-385-3967 or at raisingnebraska@unl.edu
